Is passive parenting ruining the workplace?

A thought for the day......

Have you ever had a co-worker, leader or team member you just can't tolerate? If you currently have a child in middle school or below, ask yourself the following question. Would you want YOUR child in their current behavioral state to be your co-worker, manager or teacher? If the answer is no, you still have time to make some changes. As parents we can not choose to ignore kids behaviors like rudeness, lack of basic manners, hygiene, acting out, disrespect etc because we don't feel like being bothered with the struggle and say things like ugh it's too much" "I can't do anything with them" etc. YOU signed up for this like it or not. If this is you, you are doing a disservice to your child and setting them up for a life filled with problems including low self esteem and more because they won't be viewed as trainable, collaborative , stable, or leadership material in the workplace or community. We are not their friends. We are their guides and lazy parenting does not guide it teaches them to get by until they are not you're problem anymore. Raising kids is hard but if we are the parents it's our job...not our parents job , the community's job, the teacher's job or their future manager's job. Some people get pissed if no one in their family watches their kids and honestly...that's your job and you can hire a sitter like many others do but it's YOUR job to raise YOUR kids and take care of them.

Love them enough to parent them through your exhaustive days. Saying no is hard for some parents but if you don't, you're saying yes to raising an ill equipped adult.....and then you may very well be the parent who later gets mad when they can't keep a home, job , relationship or parent their own kids. Why do that to someone you love?
