Can't We Stop Fighting on Social Media About Celebrity's Personal Problems?

Can we stop fighting on social media about celebrity's personal problems?

Copyright 2015                                       Aleasa M. Word

Not a day goes by that there isn’t something in the news about some celebrity’s personal life. If it isn’t Angelina Jolie, Kim Kardashian or Beyonce it’s Vivica Fox and 50 Cent. This week the beef between 50 Cent was just out of control. It appears that Mr. Cent (lol) made a comment about the ratings for the show Empire dipping because of all of as he described it the “gay stuff.”  Subsequently Vivica Fox was interviewed on a show and asked her opinion about his comments as she’s scheduled to be on the show soon. She “implied” that he may be gay. Once she retracted the statement she then pointed to a photo of him and another rapper and made suggestions that it was suspect.

After this social media went crazy! And guess what….so did 50 Cent’s instgram page. He posted multiple memes/photos with not so nice comments about Vivica. This set the wheels in motion for twitter and IG fights over the celebrities sexuality and rights to say what they want whether they were bashing the other or defending their own selves against what they believed to be attacks on their character.

The funniest thing about all of this to me is the number of arguments that happened between us regular non-celebrity folks over this situation. People got into all out cursing matches and threatening each other over two people they’d never met a day in their lives. It’s blew my mind that one woman even tried to go after me as I foolishly tried to calm the waters in one the many disputes.  People called 50 homophobic and Vivica less than a lady. Others stood up for 50 while others stood up from Vivica. I’m so amazed often at how much energy people can put into these celebrity lives while putting no effort into their own. I mean honestly, is 50 Cent going to pay their electric bill or internet bill so they can continue to argue on his behalf f? Ummm the answer there is no.

Truth is, we can and should have our own opinions. But what I find disturbing is that people lose site of these being people they will probably never see personally unless they happen to go to one of their concerts. Taking this personal as if it is your own life is a bit much and honestly, I believe their issues are far bigger than that when they have to go to such extremes.

One thing for sure is denial of issues does nothing to resolve them. So for those who have some sort of celebrity addiction, I hope you get the services you need soon and you realize how this has affected lives. As for me, I'm gonna' get back to work because none of those people will be paying my power bill this month so I GOTTA MAKE IT HAPPEN.
